Criminal Defense Attorney

Board Certified Criminal Defense Attorney, Michael LaFay became a Partner at NeJame Law in 2002. Michael graduated from the American University Law School in Washington, D.C. where he worked for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. After law school, he was accepted to the New York State Bar and worked on Wall Street for AT&T in the Anti-Trust section of their Legal Department. In 1985, Michael decided to dedicate his career to the practice of criminal law and moved to Florida after passing the Florida Bar. He then worked at the Public Defenders office in Brevard County where he had over 100 jury trials. In 1989, Michael was hired at the Statewide Prosecutors Office in Orlando which functions as an elite task force targeting organized crime. For the next 13 years, his cases focused on prosecuting white-collar, high volume drug trafficking cases, racketeering, Medicaid Fraud, and wiretaps where he litigated over 100 jury trials. With Michaels's extensive trial experience and knowledge of the law, he became board certified in 1995, which is the highest level a criminal defense attorney can achieve.

In 2002, defense attorney Michael LaFay came to NeJame Law where he was hired on as a Partner. During his time with NeJame Law, Michael has tried over 60 trials in State and Federal courts. His experience and dedication to his clients have shown throughout the years with his victories and his rankings in the legal community. Along with being board certified, Michael has achieved an "AV" rating which is the highest-ranking bestowed by Martindale-Hubbell, the national attorney ranking service and he has an AVVO rating of 10 out of 10.

Michael has handled many state and federal cases involving Drug Trafficking, White Collar Crimes, cases involving wiretaps, Murder, DUI's and DUI manslaughter, conspiracy cases of all kinds, pill mill cases, Medicaid and Medicare fraud, organized fraud, wire and mail fraud cases along with lower-level circuit and county court charges.
