VP Biden Coming to Orlando for Event with Grayson

1 min read

Vice president Joe Biden will visit Orlando next week to raise money for freshman Democrat US Representative Alan Grayson.

The $1,000 minimum donation luncheon on August 19th will feature some of Central Florida's most politically connected.

The list of hosts includes local politicians US Senator Bill Nelson and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer; high profile trial lawyers John Morgan and Mark NeJame; and hotelier Harris Rosen.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Democratic political insider Dick Bachelor was slated to be in attendance but canceled his appearance because of a White House ban on events involving federally registered lobbyists.

Bachelor has been employed by Florida Hospital in that regard.

This drew criticisms from Republican Party officials who expect to challenge Grayson's seat in 2010.

Though no candidate has announced, term-limited Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty, State Senator Andy Gardiner, State Senator Dan Webster and State House Speaker Larry Cretul have all been mentioned.
