As an attorney, I know how good it feels to give a big check to an injured client after an accident. But giving a big check to an organization that’s helping Central Floridians, that feels pretty good, too.
I know I’m not the only attorney who wants a better Central Florida. There are plenty of others who care deeply about this community and want to see it thrive.Attorney Mark NeJame, alongside his wife Josie NeJame, founded Runway to Hope, which supports families facing pediatric cancer. This initiative has grown tremendously, directing funds to local hospitals and providing support to hundreds of families.
Attorney John Morgan, another formidable figure in our legal community, has demonstrated a profound dedication to Central Florida causes and nonprofits, including Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, The Mustard Seed of Central Florida and Harbor House of Central Florida.
To be clear, “giving back” doesn’t always require a seven-figure donation.
Since the beginning of this year, our law firm has given out free bike helmets, sponsored area youth sports teams, donated school supplies and held fundraisers for two local nonprofits — Rosie’s Adventures, which helps kids battling cancer, and the Yellow Brick Road Foundation, which supports families battling congenital heart conditions.
Of course, you don’t have to be an attorney to want to improve the lives of Central Floridians. I would encourage anyone who feels inspired to help to do so. Find a cause that you are passionate about or have a connection to and offer your support.
Small actions can initiate waves of change throughout the community.
If you can’t write a big check or host a fundraiser, perhaps you can volunteer for the organization or offer your skills during an event. There are hundreds of worthwhile organizations in Central Florida and most — if not all — of them would be grateful for assistance.
Together, we can transform compassion into action, ensuring that no neighbor is left behind, no family fights alone, and no child’s potential is stifled by circumstance.
